After a long enforced absence to staying at hotels the Event Bee team finally had the pleasure of an overnight stay at the lavish 5-star Beaverbrook hotel. Set in 400-acre grounds nestled in the Surrey Hills, this private country-house hotel has everything to offer from cosy intimate spaces to an action packed activity schedule.

From the chipper Gateman to the warm greeting at reception, we were delighted to see nothing has changed since our last visit except the extensive social distancing measures such as temperature checks on arrival, multiple hand gel stations, self-parking, one way systems but this didn’t faze us and we were made to feel safe.

Our Coach House Garden suite, conveniently situated behind the spa complex was generous in size, with a separate living area and private terrace with views across the surrounding countryside. The en-suite bathroom featured a roll-top cooper bath and the jasmine scented Bamford toiletries. Individual sanitiser bottles were placed in the room also, with QR code literature to see the full range of actives available.

We made our way to the Coach House Spa, inspired by the English countryside, the floral brightly coloured interior was refreshing. We were advised well in advance of the 2 hour limit (a COVID-19 measure) we took a dip in the 20 metre outdoor pool and there was plenty of time to enjoy the indoor pool before our treatments.

Food is one of the many highlights at Beaverbrook. Evening dinner was at the Garden House Restaurant tucked away behind a walled kitchen garden – we weren’t able to eat inside due to a small private event but our table outside overlooking the gardens was magical. As the chill crept in, blankets were immediately brought to us. The menu features rustic Mediterranean-style dishes, wonderful flavoursome food, with many ingredients sourced from the gardens directly in front of you!

With our buggy/taxi ordered we were transported to twenties-style Sir Frank’s Bar in the Main House where the evening ended with a Negroni. Our pre-booked breakfast took place in the Main House and the menu was made to order, no complaints about that – all very organised and we could stay as long as needed.

Privacy, tranquillity and understated glamour is what you can expect from this venue together with the convenience to London Heathrow & Gatwick Airports just 30-40 minutes away. With the impressive endless list of activities to do onsite you can easily incorporate a fun or wellbeing factor to your event/stay.
